SELAH
Last week I felt such and urge from The Lord to take a break, to pause, to be still. I find these urges to pause often happen right after an intense season of output or right before the on taking of a new dimension of life. The urge swept over me and for the first time I immediately embraced it. I did not delay, at 4am I created a post on my creative Instagram page announcing a Selah (until further notice). I know I couldnβt shut down all areas of life; I am a wife, mother, business owner, and ministry leader. However, where I could slow down, I did. It felt like a weight of βdemandβ was lifted off of me. I am still training my brain to stop feeling guilty for βnot showing upβ virtually, however, we both know that is a lie.
Breaks are blessings, essential, and revitalizing. Areas Iβve neglected are now being acknowledged. In place of scrolling, creating content, being βbusy,β Iβve been more present, more intentional, and I feel my tank feeling up.
According to Christianity.com, βSome scholars believe that Selah was a musical notation possibly meaning "silence" or "pause;" others, "end," "a louder strain," "piano," etc. Still others think it is similar to a musical interlude, βa pause in the voices singing, while the instruments perform alone.β Selah is translated as βintermissionβ in the Septuagint (LXX) which is the earliest Greek translation of the Old Testament.β
I am not sure how long my Selah is going to last, but I am going to enjoy this βpurposeful pauseβ while it last.
I created this digital painting titled, βEmbrace the Pause.β This Giclee art print is available in my Philanthropy Art Shop and on my Etsy Shop. Just in case you didnβt know, 25% of the profits from each sale goes to support women and children fleeing domestic violence.
I pray you all are having a wonderful week. Thank you for following my journey. Your presence is ALWAYS appreciated.
