Back to Reality
I returned back to my life and quickly settled into the daily routine. Dinner had to be made, avocado toast and some fruit. An easy meal for me and one of my childrenβs favorites. I wished the vacation would linger just a day longer.
Here I am back in my reality. One filled with duty and beauty.
I am daily trying to figure out how to lessen the responsibilities of life and spend more time celebrating the beauty of the present.
At this moment I just want to be still. Soaking up the remnant of the salt water, alarm-less wake-ups, and freedom to plan nothing.
A goal of mine is to find beauty in the mundane. As I am typing away I am listening to the buzz of traffic whipping by my house. A noise that would often irritate most people, but brings back good memories of living right outside DC. The traffic, array of sirens, and neighbors walking past the window were comforting. It took me months to adjust to hearing absolutely nothing when I moved to the NOVA suburbs.
I find beauty in hanging (some) of my childrenβs clothes, particularly the ones Iβve made. I examine the fibers and think about the day I made them, or how cute they looked when they wore them the other week.
I decided to bring a little vacation back into my everyday reality. Opting for less screen time, more silence, focusing on less, and allowing special mundane moments to linger longer.
I pray you are well and I hope you find some beauty in your day today.
